A basic repair takes between 10 and 15 minutes.
What fabrics can I repair ? +
Mainly denim, jumpers, woollen fabrics, cotton and woven fabrics.
Is it difficult to learn ? +
No, the technique is simple and suitable for beginners. After a few attempts, you’ll soon get the hang of it.
Which thread should I use ? +
Choose a thread that’s suitable for the fabric: wool for knits, and cotton or embroidery thread for denim and sturdier fabrics.
What types of clothes and fabrics can be repaired ? +
This loom is particularly suitable for jeans, denim, trousers, jackets, woollens and other relatively hard-wearing woven fabrics. It allows you to weave a small patch directly onto the fabric to fill a hole or reinforce a worn area.
Is the repair sturdy and long-lasting after washing ? +
Yes, a well-executed repair can be long-lasting, particularly when the thread is suitable for the fabric and the stitching extends far enough into the part of the garment that is still intact. For areas subject to heavy wear, it is advisable to reinforce a larger area than the original hole in order to distribute the strain more evenly.
Can heavily worn areas be repaired, rather than just holes ? +
Yes. The patch can be used not only to fill a hole, but also to reinforce an area that is starting to wear out before it tears completely.
Is this technique suitable for stretch fabrics ? +
It can be used on knits and slightly stretchy fabrics, but you need to take extra care. Avoid fabrics that are too stiff.
